You say that the dental plaster is not sealed. Does
there seem to be any kinds of granular material come
off the tool side if you rub it with your hands?
Perhaps it might be wise to coat the tool with
somekind of sealant to minimize, or at least eliminate
this as one of the variables that could be causing the
scratches.
