Patrick,

An easy strategy might be to move the teflon bearings
further apart to increase the amount of friction
without great increasing stiction.  This often does
the trick if there are minor shifts in the balance
point.  But if you have a very light scope, removable
counterwights (or a "virtual" spring counterbalance)
might be necessary.
