Mike,

I'm applying approximately 10-15 lbs downward pressure
(that's just a rough guess).  Since I started working
on the TDE, I've been very careful to keep the edge of
the lap trimmed so it is smaller than the mirror.  Not
being so careful early on in polishing is one of the 
things I suspect might have caused the initial TDE.
