IMHO, I expect a small finderscope to be more than enough.

My own telescope (12,5 inch F4,8) bears a finderscope 8x50 and a
red-dotfinder.
To my own surprise I find that I rarely use the finderscope, but mainly the
Red Dotfinder!

Especially since I use a William Optics SWAN 40mm eyepiece with 72 degrees
angle. This gives a field of almost 2 degrees.
The pointing-accuracy of the reddot is within 0,1 degrees, so this combo
works very fine.
 
I estimate that in your 17,5 inch telescope, a similar eyepiece still gives
a 1,3 degrees field of view.

Patrick,  Have you already used your telescope? 
If not: it is better to first try it out with a small finderscope and a
reddot-finder.
