Re: [ATM] Advice for shipping a 16" mirror

Joe
I used to work in a large manufacturing facility with several
forklifts and dedicated drivers. One driver who was quite proficient if
not a little strange, used to drive backwards at full speed and usually
with the forks tilted down and dragging on the floor. The tips of the
forks were worn down to a sharp point and I often suspected he harboured
so secret thoughts of using them to impalling some company manager :-)
rather than just keeping them low to the floor for safety sakes.
I have seen a lot of damaged stuff that was attributed to sloppy
forklift drivers. I even saw a wall get moved when one backed into it,
he was lucky the wall didn't come down on top of him. As you say they
are heavy little buggers and can do a lot of damage in untrained hands.
So short of armour plate there is no guaranted method of shipping a
mirror that cannot be damaged but a sturdy cardboard box that will not
allow the contents to shift or a light weight plywood box will should
get a miror to its destination and back.
