A syncronous motor (clock motor, etc.) is a version of a stepper
motor in that it locks to the single phase of the input AC power.
This is nice in that it will work at any frequency around the
designed frequency. You will, of course, get a reduced power
output if you go more than a half octave from the center
frequency but running an octave off will still produce a fair bit
of power from these motors.
Not too sure if a 1W motor would be good enough for a drive as
I'd think that the 3W would be just marginal for a smaller, light
scope.
