RE: [ATM] Another Astigmatism question, but at the sphere stage
We don't just seem to be we, well I have been.
I knew this would come up. I actually intended to ask about this after
settling the question of whether (careful now) defects in the figure of
revolution can bee seen in Foucault.
What would be the proper term for the shapes and the aberration caused by
these different defects?
What would be the proper terms regarding the shape of Mirror C of the "Round
Robin Test Mirrors"? What parts of the shape are astigmatism, general
asymmetry, and localized defects?

You guys seem to be using the word astigmatism as a synonym for
general asymmetric or even localized defects. That's a really
unfortunate amateur habit.
