.001" is good enough for Foucault testing (in fact, Tex sez, p. 85, .004"
allows "... (for [mirrors ~ 8"f/6]) a precision ten times better than the
Rayleigh tolerance.") If you're really obsessive or going to try the LWT
test (needing another digit accuracy), I'd suggest pushing on the KE
platform with a micrometer. I've got an NSK, 0-25 mm, with a vernier going
to .001 mm (4E-5"!). I was going to use it on my xy-dingbat, but its neck
is just a bit larger than the .001" micrometers currently on it<grumble>.
