Actually I think if this the scope I'm thinking about I was one of the people 
standing there on the rock at Stellafane looking at this scope talking about 
damping the vibration. My idea was that if you take a vertical rod of some 
calculated stiffness and attached it to the diagonal end of the scope with a 
adjustable mass that could slide up or down the rod you could tune it to 
reduce the period and amplitude of the vibration. It would be attached at one 
end so it would act like a (I don't know if this is a proper term ) inertial 
dampener..
