On a thin piece of glass, the problem is keeping your hands in
one place is what the problem is.  You need to move your hands
freely about the top surface, including making sure that it moves
in and out radially otherwise the surface will tend to pick up
areas or spots where it gets more work on than in others.
It is when figuring that you have to be really careful of where
you're putting your hands as you may work a groove into the
surface in a few strokes.
