[ATM] 32" Focal ratio
Hi,
I am going to be ordering a 32" mirror for a dedicated imager. The
optical path is going to be folded with a round flat, and the camera
will be between the primary and the secondary. I cannot afford RC
optics so this, I feel, is my best bet. It will be a scope similar to
the ones that Observatory Scope makes. I can go anywhere from
f/4.5 to about f/8 without the legnth being an issue. Of course I
want the widest field possible, but I know there are going to be
trade offs. I am not sure what a custom coma corrector costs
but I anticipating needing one to obtain the widest fields possible.
The $64,000 question is: Should I stick with the longer focal legnths
or will a corrector make this a non-issue? What would YOU do
in my shoes and why?
Thanks,
Scott
