I hope you have made a lot of mirrors, and at least several thin mirrors.
1/2" x 18" - Not worth the effort IMHO.  You can make several thicker
mirrors in the same length of time with far less frustration.
Of course, I failed at my 16.5" x 3/4" attempt and wasted 15 months in the
process.  Maybe you'll have better luck. Support isn't the only obstacle
you'll have to deal with. 1/2" glass that large is FLIMSY. It is going to be
difficult to polish and figure without errors in the figure due to flex of
the glass.
