You can put me in that category. When the moon is full I can stare at lots of Hubble pics, and so forth. When I take out my scope, I want to become one with the universe. When I look at a glob, or a galaxy, something happens which is impossible from a picture. 

Those stars converted part of their mass into EM energy and shined a bit of it on me. The light bounces around my scope and enters my eye. The energy from the star is converted into chemical energy and stored in my brain. What was once part of a star is now a part of me.
