How about a 2" square face for an uncooled CMOS video camera that
reaches mag 17 after a 2 second exposure with an 8" SCT while sitting in
the parking lot of a suburban shopping mall with all of its overhead
lighting?
Do a web search for Malin Cam. The price is under 1K USD.
IIRC the heat generted is minimal and a fan would remove any heat fast
enough.
But do you really want to watch TV or do you want to look through the
scope?
