I used to drive a car that had sodium-cooled valves. The sodium filled
exhaust valve did not fail even after being quenched by cooling water from a
failed water jacket. ( hemi aluminum head,  cast iron block with copper
radiator lead to corrosion by electrolysis) Nice 2 Liter sedan with close
ratio 5 speed, limited slip diff... made for a quick drive when going
observing up S6 to Mother's Kitchen
