I'd suggest that it may be worthwhile to order a refractor kit from Newport
Glass and pick up Dave Rowe's Trace program and calculate the curves needed
for the lens of your desire.  I'd also try to get the lens focal length as
long as possible as this will provide a better color correction (although
with a real prime image rather than an imaginary one will tend to relax the
color requirements) and image scale.
