Hi, Jerry,

I use Outlook Express that came with WinXP.   If you turn off the preview
pane,  you can delete any suspicious message without opening it.  From the
menu View-Layout uncheck the box "Show Preview Pane"  Then you can click on
any header and hit Delete key.  To open the message, press Enter instead of
delete, or just double-click.

Gives you more control at the expense of more clicking.
