Nate,

This blank should be very rigid as it is full thickness but lightweight. If 
you grind the back ribs nice and flat I'd imagine it would sit on a ring of 
thin rubber on a flat back plate  at the 60- 70% zone and hold a nice 
figure. A 40mm  thick 16" mirror mounts well this way so the thick 16" 
should do even better   And there is always Velcro. My 14"  X  1.5" is held 
in its cell with nothing more than a ring  of 1" Velcro squares at the 60% 
zone. Returns a perfect star test and holds collimation very well.
