Fwd: Re: [ATM] CeO micron size -- figuring
I use the WB CeO in the following manner:
First I eat a tall jar of olives -- to get the jar. After washing it
carefully (I put it thru the dishwasher, then rinse after with hot water),
I fill it 3/4 full with filtered tap water (an ordinary sink filter from
the hardware store) and add about a tablespoon (15ml) of the CeO and shake
vigorously. I wait 5 minutes for it to settle mostly, and pour off the top
half into another jar (more olives, yum). I let that settle a week or so
and pour off most of the water and use that for figuring. The coarser
stuff in the bottom of the original jar I use for initial polishing. I get
the occasional sleeks from the coarser stuff, but that (almost) always goes
away during figuring.
I keep a 5 gallon (20L) bucket for rinse water. That I let settle for a
week or so and always dip the mirror into the top for rinsing between
sessions. Because I tend to do one figuring session per night, it gets an
entire day to settle between sessions.
Oh, and once I determine that I'm on the final figuring path (e.g. all the
zones and holes and hills are gone and I'm converging onto the final
parabola) I switch to rouge, which goes slower and gives me a nicer final
finish.
