Re: [ATM] Is my mount right?

David,

Quality of polishing is checked by reflecting intense light beam from
the polished surface. If the surface is very well polished the spot where
the intense light beam hits the surface is hardly visible under magnifying
glass. You can
use concentrated sun light or laser pointer beam ( Watch the eyes with laser).

When grinding or polishing, the mirror is in principle not on the center of the
tool or vice versa, except in short moments while in its mutual movements
centers
pass one over or under another.
For a simple and effective grinding machine look at Mirror-O-Matic
site from Dennis Rech.

How do you know that you are satisfied with your diagonal (secondary) mirror.
Have you or somebody else made a flatness test? Or you have got miror
certificate
from Newport?

Vladimir.
