[ATM] mirror making machine
Hello list
Does anyone know about making a mirror making machine? I have two motors (both run on 120 V AC and run at 1725 RPM, but the shafts are different (both run at 1/2 hp and one is a Baldor type)). The one that is Baldor type is hooked up to a double worm reduction box that slows the 1725 RPM down to 11.5 RPM. Last winter I used the motor and gear box with the shaft sticking straight up and a crank on it and a connecting rod and a mirror mount to make a crude mirror grinding machine. It looked like this:
connecting
____rod______
____|__ ____|___
-motor mirror The only thing is I have to be there to make sure
gear box that the mirror (when mirror is on top) doesn't move off center of the tool and fall off onto the ground. Although it's only up a few inches.
But I've seen other designs where they have another connecting rod that provides a solution to this problem. Can any one explain why it is necessary to have the mirror and tool going at a random rate? And how to get a machine that can approximate this? Does anyone have a 2 motor type design for a mirror grinding machine? One that would use pulleys as well? Thank you
