John,

What's your reason to mount the mirror at 8 inch distance from the rear end
of the scope? If you don't need the eight inches, I would cut them off.
Personally, I like the tube to be no longer then necessary for easier moving
the scope around. I dont know if the extra inches will cause cooling
problems. Cooling problems can also be taken care off with one or more fans
and holes in the tube at the right places.
