[ATM] Follow-up question

To the ATM group:

Thanks to those who responded to my question about
recommended distance from the secondary mirror to
the front end of the telescope tube. Now for the
follow-up question:

Is it necessary to mount the mirror in its cell
a short distance from the back end of the telescope
tube, or would there be any harm in adding a few
extra inches? I suppose the concern here would be
air currents and time for the system to reach thermal
stability. I'm thinking about having a total distance
from mirror face to back end of the telescope tube to
be about 8 inches.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
