Anodizing is not a plating process. Anodizing forms an aluminum oxide
(sapphire?) layer on the surface. The thickness and properties depend of the
oxide layer depend on the anodizing process. The thicker Type III hard
anodized aluminum has excellent dielectric properties ( good insulator). I
suspect that Type III hard anodized aluminum may be compatible with carbon
fiber. Does anyone on the list know?
