[ATM] re: Carbon fibre rods

Two things you must look out for when using carbon fibre composites. When
you cut the material your tools must be extremely sharp to minimize fraying
the ends of the rod. Do not use any coolant/lubricant as this may migrate up
the fibres if the material has not been adequately autoclaved. Epoxy will
remain a good conductor until it is baked in an oven at 285 F for 24 hours.
Since carbon is a conductor placing aluminium at one end and its galvanic
compliment at the other is to be avoided. Carbon fibre composites will not
"attack" aluminium directly, much work was done using aluminium as a matrix
with carbon fibres and I have not run across mention of the materials
interacting. Check on the net for the "GALVANIC SERIES" and determine which
component in your scope is consuming your aluminium.
