Looks to me like a strong hyperbolic surface with ha high center. This
often happens with soft pitch from my experience. The fun is going to be
getting the surface to a sphere at the present and probably the best is to
do MOT and put one hand in front of the other rather than side by side. Do
your strokes with no W and the mirror should eventually turn spherical.
I'll note that if you are getting images that good, you probably are indeed
polished out.
