ATM Polishing with pads question
I am using polishing pads for the initial polish of my
16" f5 1 inch thick mirror. I am using a hydrostone
tool also 1 inch thick that was made from the fine
ground mirror.
I polished about 1 hr the first day TOT. Then on the
second day I noticed that the tool was easy to spin
but hard to push. It pushed about the same as on the
first day but the spin was very easy and took little
effort. I took this to mean that the center of the
tool is making more contact than the edges. This has
continued after 4 hours of polishing over 1 week.
My foucault image shows a very steep hole forming.
Should I continue? Or should I make some sort of
change? The mirror is polished out to about 3/4 of
the edge so I know I need to polish more but should I
do it the same way?
