ATM central cavity
Hi everyone,
I remember being here once with my 10" but for a different reason. This time
I dug the central cavity when I was working TOT center to edge to remove the
rolled edge. I dug a heck of a hole in the center of my mirror without
making much progress against the rolled edge. I just repoured both my 10"
and 8" lap. I am going to work with the 10" , TOT, until I can't see
anymore progress, then switch to the 8" lap. The 10" will push the central
10" of the mirror to a sphere and remove the cavity in the center of the
mirror with COC strokes and a lot of overhang. Then 'W' strokes will widen
that spherical area to the edge of the mirror. Then I will use the 8" and
parabolization strokes to attempt to parabolize this mirror again. If I am
going about this wrong, someone let me know. My mirror is a 16.5" x 3/4"
thin mirror. F4.5 (approx).
I guess if I polish on this mirror long enough, I will polish through the
center and then will have a logical excuse to quit. : )
Waiting for cooler temperature so I can continue.
Clear skies, Jerry
