Actually, you have just made more work for yourself.
I don't do any cleaning of the dental stone, not even on the face of tiles
before starting grinding!  The stuff on the face will quickly be removed -
dental stone is a lot softer than the tiles so it will erode away with no
problems.  The only time that I will do anything to the face of the tool is
when the tool is wanting to stick due to astigmatism/sphericity problems in
fine grinding - a real warning that you're not grinding right and have
problems with astigmatism or sphericity - and then only to do a few
scratches to allow air to flow into the center area of the tool.
Now that you have cut away the support for the edges of the tiles, you will
be wanting to stone them so that the edges don't crack off and make
scratches in the glass.
