I'd only worry about light problems if the surfaces inside the lens aren't
well blackened.  Considering the type of camera, a bit of work with the
brightness and contrast on the camera control will probably fix the low
contrast.
Personally, I'd worry more about the difference in brightness across the
image as this can make for some real errors if the mirror isn't centered in
the image as one side of the edge zones will be brighter than the other,
causing the shadow brightness to be other than equal for that zone.
