Craftsmanship
Optical Performance
Innovative Component
Special
Junior
While all the judging was going on, was there guest
speakers,presentations, a swap meet; and, hopefully a dining in dinner? If
so, it sounds like a Star Party to me!!!!! East coast style, and I'll bet
that for the most part everyone there probably agreed with the judging.
I've been to a few star parties, and I'm almost certain that the
fancy scope would have won hands down at any SP contest for craftsmanship,
just because of the labor of love that went into making it. It truly is as
put "a work of Art". I would rather have this instrument sitting in my
living room to complement it, than this big white tube sonotube I
have.
Stellafane is the Mecca for the East, and if I have this right...just
as the RMTC is on the West. A large gathering of people with the same
passions in every aspect of astronomy and telescopes. Do as these folks
have done and you can start your own historical event.
