Ken, you really don't want to do that.  The power supply in laptops isn't
the simple little thing that some external power supplies are but rather are
a lot more complex and feeding power into the power supply can cause some
serious problems.  A lot better to feed the power from the input like it
should be.
I might also note that a 7805 WILL NOT be able to handle the power
requirements of a laptop.  The regulators inside are switching power
supplies and are able to handle a fair bit more current than that linear
regulator can even think about handling.
