JC Whitney has a kit for polishing out scratches for car windshields.  The
product will do an excellent job for your boo-boo.  It consists of a fiber
wheel for your drill motor and a bunch of Cerium Oxide (not good enough
quality for optical purposes as we have demands for better quality control
but good enough for 0 power viewing) to use as the polishing agent.
