ATM Ronchi offset

Hello to all,

  I'm ready to start figuring this 12.5 f5 and I have
chosen to use Ronchi testing. I obtained a program
online and have been playing around with it. My
question is about the "offset", how do I make sure I
start in the right place?  Moving the mirror forward
and back till I get the same number of lines and
spaces, then divide that space in half... that should
show me exact RoC correct?

  I also want to ask if it is important to start
figuring MOT or can I use TOT?
