ATM TEAC stepper motors

Hi,

I have recently salvaged two unipolar TEAC stepper motors from old floppy drives. The axis sticks out from both sides, from the back only a few mm and from the front about a cm. I want to use the front side, but there's still a 16mm diam cylinder attached that served to move a metal ribbon attached to the disk head. There's no screw that tightens it, so i suspect that it has been temperature-shrunk on.

My question is, is there anybody on this list who can tell me how i can get this thing off the stepper axis? Would heating it with a torch be OK?
