Since the subject of wrinkle paint was brought up with John Lynch's post I
thought I might
add another source for getting this type of finish. I dropped my aluminum
tube off at my
local neighborhood powder coating company today. After telling them I
wanted the
inside of the tube sandblasted as rough as they could get it, and explained
why, the
suggestion was made to me to use their flat black wrinkle finish paint. He
showed me
a sample of a cylinder head off a two cylinder motorcycle engine they were
working own.
The finish looked great. I decided to have them do my tube with this type
paint. I should
have it back in a week. I will check and see how a well sandblasted tube
with a wrinkle
paint finish does at light absorption and report back. At the very least I
think the external
finish will be awesome.
