ATM Beginner-Before I build this thing

O.K.  I've got all the basic pieces parts for a 6" F8 Dob.  I would 
appreciate some feedback on some final questions before I start cutting and 
drilling.

1.  I am planning on using the simple mirror mounting as shown on Ray's 
page.  Should I use this type of mounting? I admit that I don't fully 
understand the types with the springs. The ones that I've seen on the Web 
have a centered bolt or threaded rod running through the backplate and into 
the mirror cell (wouldn't this restrict the pivot of the mirror?).

2.  Some sources on the Web say that diagonal offset is needed. I believe I 
understand the logic behind this, but how much difference does this make?  
Since this is my first scope, I am hesitant to deviate from the plans.

3.  The money is spent and the wife says its gonna be a while till I can 
spend more. (Thank God she keeps me in line or I would be flat broke :-)
So does anyone have any ideas for a really good 1 1/4" homemade focuser?
