Re: ATM Truss tube vibrations - fluid dampers?
i'm just buying carbon fiber poles. stiff enough to ensure frequency and
amplitude of oscillation is not an issue.

Subject: ATM Truss tube vibrations - fluid dampers?
I know some of you may be sick of this thread....but Doug Tanaka mentioned
something to me that may get me to do more tinkering. He has a string
damper on his tennis racket...essentially a small fluid filled chamber
(somthing viscous like oil?), an air bubble, and a ball bearing.
I may get a small pill bottle, fill it with 30 weight oil, and BB's, and
clamp it to various parts of a truss tube for testing. Perhaps this may be
a more space/weight efficient way to dampen truss tube vibrations than ropes
or cloth jackets?
Has anyone tried this?
Thanks in advance,
Tom Krajci
