I found that the 1-15/16" diameter annular cutter
(P/N 5-530-178) cuts through 1/2" aluminum plate well. It was held in a 3/4" R8
collet running at 370 rpm on my Rockwell mill. No pilot. Relton A-9 cutting
fluid was also used. The hole process was finished with a single pass with a
boring head...all that was needed for a precise 2" hole. The HSS annular cutter

These annular cutters are a big improvement when
cutting thick aluminum over the typical hole saw found at Home
Depot.
