Kurt,
	As a chemist who has used HF to etch glass and silicon, I can 
say from experience that any concentration of HF that will etch glass 
at a reasonable enough rate to be practical should be given the 
utmost caution. Even a dilute solution, if in contact with the skin, 
will allow HF to be absorbed through the skin. This and inhalation 
are exactly what you want to avoid.
