Dan,

Unbelievably addicted. In order I have owned since 1989:
SE
II si
Quadra 800
PowerBook 1500
Motorola StarMax 4000 (mac clone)
I also own a Newton- not a mac, but Apple built it. I like my Palm, but
somehow it's just not the same...

I currently use:
PowerBook G3/233- mostly for school. I'll finish my Masters if it kills me.
It probably will.
PowerMac G4/400- my business computer, I am a freelance graphic artist. If
you think astronomy is expensive, try graphic design. It costs more than
$1500 just for the three basic programs (Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator or
Freehand). Add more for web design (since you are doing my brochure can you
throw in a web site?). I have to keep buying the faster systems because time
is money (literally). Each computer usually lasts 2-3 years before Adobe
puts out its newest version of Photoshop that instantly makes your system
more obsolete than usual. I have 576Mb of memory JUST FOR PHOTOSHOP. It eats
memory alive.

Since you are still paying off your Quadra you should like this, when I
bought that first mac in 1989 the SE was $2750, and the Apple LaserWriter
IINT (first Adobe postcript laser printer for the mac) was $3500.

Keep the faith. If the most popular was the best than McDonald's would be
gourmet food.
