ATM dust in the wind
Used equipment and child adoption have similar qualities. They are
already here and
are just looking for a good home. Unless there is a structural limitation
for weight on a
floor get the heavy iron. If you have ever used a table-top miller, you
will have experience
of dancing with it across the floor when taking a heavy cut in something
like alum. The
old Atlas millers were famous for that. My Jet miller can take a 1/16" cut
in steel at low
speed and not bog down.
About that baby powder thread. I believe talc is in the same family as
asbestos. Not as
lethal but not safe to breath either.
If you look at a specimen of both they are hard to tell apart. The
radiation in other crushed rock like you were
describing can be a problem. However ANY rock dust can be a problem
case in point:
A few months ago I was cutting some labradorite in my diamond saw. I use
a combination
of cold water and dish soap. I noticed the mist I was producing and
wondered what happens
when it dries up.BINGO, it becomes dust again stupid!! After checking with
my doc for
the presence of more junk in my lungs,(I use to be an air-foil polisher and
have some nasty
dust in both lungs) I now wear a mask when doing ANY dust-producing
operation. The
key word here is accumulation. Even glass-pushers can get some dust in
their bodies
over a long period of time.
