You will probably lose quality of the image in spherical abberation, coma
and color errors.  Before you try to glue them together, I suggest that you
use some vegatable oil between the lenses to see what is going to happen.
It's index of refraction is close to that of the glues used so you will have
a good idea of where you are going to be.
If the lenses got designed properly then you shouldn't really have any
severe ghosting problems but that may be the reason for the coatings on the
two inside surfaces.
