ATM Scratch during initial polishing...question

Well, I finally got to polishing my 8" f/5.5 and as dumb luck would have it 
after my second spell of polishing I noticed a hairline scratch about 1/8 of 
an inch long on the mirror.  It's about 1 inch in from the outer edge.  
Assuming I can't get it polished out can this type of defect have a negative 
impact on viewing since it's so small?  I don't want to go back to grind it 
out if I don't have to.  I'm sick of fine grinding at this point and don't 
care to repeat hours of work.  As always, thanks in advance for the advice.
