When you rotated the mirror in its cell, did the astigmatism rotate with the
mirror?

Also, how is your diagonal mirror mounted to the spider assembly?  Is it
glued in there, or what?

Stick with us, we will solve this thing.   It is very unusual for a full
thickness mirror like yours to have astigmatism.

I don't think you will need this to correct your astigmatism.   But if there
is a tilting lens in your eyepiece, you just rotate the eyepiece.  By
rotating and tilting, you can usually find a combination that cancells the
astigmatism.

No, it is just that when the faint stars are stretched, you can't see them
any more.  Believe me, all light is stretched equally.

You need to add a pinhole to your tester so that you can check for the
Yin-Yang  effect.   I don't think you will see the twist in a mirror with a
slitless tester.
