ATM: Stress

List,

I bought some pieces of 3/4" plate glass (or, float glass) and a few kg of grit, so the
next job is to trepan a disk from it.
I have been reading the archives on the topic of material stress. My assumption until now
was that the modern technique of glass production delivers pretty flat and low-stress
glass. In any case, it is produced in large sheets (10x20 foot) and i only use 10" out of
it.

The question is: is this assumption valid, or should i undertake some action to relief
the residual stress? What can go wrong when it is left in?

Thanks,
/Arjan
