Re: ATM What is easyier for beginer?
OK everyone!
I can see I will really need to cut my teeth on something a little more
simple.
I guess I wanted to jump the gun and make these incredible scopes like I see
in the magazines and Stellifaine (sp) and the ones you guys make on this
list. Let me ask you, what do you do with all these mirrors you guys
grind???? Do you give em away after your done or just keep making scopes
till the house and garage is full? Is this some kind of sickness were you
start one and you just never stop, you just keep pushing glass and the scopes
are alway bigger and bigger? I can see this happening to me. Problem is the
wife is already bitchen about the 2 scopes I own. Some of the materials to
make telescopes are expensive!
I don't want to make a junk mirror, but at the same time I don't want to have
to make 3 or 4 before I maker a larger one, say 16 to 18 inch dia. I have
heard that ATMers can make scopes/optics much better than the big 2, Meade
and Celestron. I am guessing this is because they (amature) can put the time
in that it takes to make very good optics?
So to recap, for my first attempt, I should buy an 8" mirror kit and give it
go.
Looks like I need to find a supplier!
Thanks all,
David
