No.  You can do a "flash" polish as some call it.  That is, put a quick
polish on as much of the mirror as you can do in 15 minutes and then test.
I recommend not testing your mirror until you're very close to completely
polished out.  If you start testing too early, you will be tempted to try
to correct your mirror while polishing.  The only goal of polishing is to
remove pits from fine grinding (I sound like a Mel Protocol droid now).
Better you should finish polishing your mirror out completely than end up
with a perfect parabola with haze.  If you have access to another mirror,
test that one instead.
