ATM re: aligning finders with main scope
Hey Peter,
You asked,
I would imagine that you have to choose an object (terrestrial) a long way
away and start with that. Is this correct?
This is correct.
Also how far away does the object
have to be? Is any subsequent fine tuning required after this?
I align mine on an object not more than 600 feet away. Occasionally I'll
tweak the adjustment on a star to get perfect alignment.
I have a
telrad type finder which looks as if it is going to make object location in
the sky quite easy after alignment.
Correct again, I have a Televue quick point and using it to point a scope is
slicker than cat snot on a hot tin roof!
BTW is there any need for another finder (say 7 x 50) or is the one I have
sufficient?
I do not believe that there is.
Sorry about the very basic questions.
Quite alright, that is what we are here for!
Nutso Nate
Take a look at my new website, still very much under construction.
