Just look at the images of Hubble with is in the 2.xx meters category
if I do not mistake and compare with some done by ground-based
telescopes like the Hooker at Mt Wilson, or even more modern, larger
ones. The details viewed from space are really incredibly thin! I think
for example to a pair of quasar images at page 41 of S&T's May issue.
